We believe deeply in the potential of young people.
We’ve seen firsthand how much strength, curiosity, humor, and heart exist in this stage of life—and how powerful it is when those qualities are supported with the right tools, language, and connection.
WillPower was not created to fix something broken.
It was created to build what’s possible.
Everything we do is grounded in a simple belief:
Young people already have the strength within them.
They just need the skills, support, and space to use it.
We offer a connected model that meets young people before challenges escalate
- while they are navigating them
- and as they continue to grow into independence
This includes:
- Skill-building through InPower
- Support for families and caregivers
- Access to care when needed
- Ongoing connection and community
William was our firstborn, and a light in every room he entered.
He was funny, curious, thoughtful, handsome, and full of life. The kind of person who made people feel included, seen, and genuinely important.
He had a way of bringing joy into everyday moments—through his humor, his energy, and his ability to connect with anyone.
He also gave us something we carry forward every single day:
“Choose your perception.”
“Get comfortable with the uncomfortable.”
These weren’t just words to him—they were how he strove to move through the world. They are now woven into everything we teach.
But like so many young people, William was carrying more than anyone could see. He was struggling with depression—quietly, and in a way that was often masked by his humor and the way he showed up for others.
In 2022, William took his own life.
It was an incredibly devastating loss, and one that changed everything for our family. In the time since, we have come to understand something we wish we had known sooner: That even the most loved, capable, and outwardly “okay” young people can be struggling deeply.
And that too often, they don’t have the tools, language, or support to navigate what they’re feeling.
We do not want another young person—or another family—to experience this kind of loss. William’s friends continue to shape this work. Their love for him, their stories, and their belief in what we are building helped turn an idea into something that could reach far beyond us.
Today, his spirit lives on in the way we approach this work:
- With openness.
- With honesty.
- With connection.
- With intention.
Mission
The WillPower Foundation exists to ensure that no young person has to navigate life’s challenges alone and to help save lives by providing early support, connection, and the skills to thrive.
We believe the skills that shape a life, including emotional regulation, purposeful decision-making, authentic communication, and resilience, are not innate. They are learnable.
